On the Road to Motherhood

This blog started in October 2003 when I found that in another 8 months I will become a mommy. The purpose of this blog was to document my pregnancy. In June 2005 I restarted this blog to document my second pregnancy. My second child is now three months old. I am restarting this blog yet again to keep in touch with friends and family and to complain about life.

This time I do have a reason for not writing for so long. I actually don’t have Internet at home, so the only time I am able to use Internet is when one of our neighbours leaves their wireless network unsecured. It does not happen often.

As you remember we bought a house. Our original plan was to do just a few very minor changes and move in as soon as possible. Unfortunately, once we began to redecorate the house, the project snowballed. We did not realize just how bad the actual shape of the house is. By the time we were supposed to move there were no floors, ceiling, kitchen, either of the bathrooms, or walls. Nothing was ready. Luckily for us, our current house had not been rented out and our landlord agreed that we can stay till the end of March. I just hope everything will be done by then. But in line with our original move, we disconnected our phone and Internet. That’s why I stopped calling and writing to all of you.

In the meanwhile, I fractured my foot. It is a stress fracture of a second metatarsal. It is a common sports injury particularly among runners and footballers. Why and how did a stay at home mother could get one is a mystery to me. Basically, my foot began to hurt sometime in January. After about three weeks I went to the doctor who suggested an X-ray. I went to the hospital to get the X-ray and walked out in a cast. Few days later I went back and demanded the damn thing to be removed because it was driving me mad. It was rubbing against my toes, I could not have a bath or a shower, and I could not go our under the rain. I was going insane. Anyway, I got prescribed a special sole, which I should hopefully receive in mid march to remove part of the pressure from the bones. I am also getting a bone scan done next week. If my fracture is healing I am going to avoid the cast. But if it does not I will get the cast back for 6 to 8 weeks.

Big Munchkin has been a good girl most of the time. We hardly have any tantrums, no more than 2 or 3 times a week. He is still going to the daycare three days a week, which is huge help. With only Little Munchkin I can get some things done, with two of them I can’t do anything. Big Munchkin is very much into dinosaurs these days. We got her a set of books called “Harry and a Bucketful of Dinosaurs”. She loved it. We took her to the Museum of Natural History (at her own request) to see dinosaurs. We got her a toy set of plastic dinosaurs. She knows them all by name. She also began to watch “Harry and a Bucketful of Dinosaurs” on TV. These days it is all about dinosaurs. If you ask her what kind of dinosaur she is – she is apparently stegosaurus, mama is triceratops and Little Munchkin is scelidosaurus.

Little Munchkin got two more teeth – front top. The next two top teeth are coming as well. He is still not walking. He figured out that he can get really fast from point A to point B by crawling, and now he is not even trying to walk. His birthday is next week. He will be one year old. I don’t think we will be doing anything until the move to the new house. I am planning on organising a joint house warming and a birthday party in one.
