I spent most of the day at a Hospital today. I had my appointment with an ophthalmologist. It took forever, but the doctor was thorough. At least now I know exactly what is wrong with my eyes. It is Fuch's Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy. The doctor Miss H. was very reassuring about getting me not to stress of what I am going to read on-line about it. But the condition is hereditary and untreatable. The worst case scenario is treatable with a corneal transplant, which does not sound very optimistic. Hopefully, as Miss H. promised the symptoms are not going to affect my life for at least another 20 or 30 years. She will be able to judge the speed of cell deterioration better when she sees me next year. I'll keep my fingers crossed and will hope for the best.
On the Road to Motherhood
This blog started in October 2003 when I found that in another 8 months I will become a mommy. The purpose of this blog was to document my pregnancy. In June 2005 I restarted this blog to document my second pregnancy. My second child is now three months old. I am restarting this blog yet again to keep in touch with friends and family and to complain about life.

Do you find that you get used to handling things by yourself? When your partners stay home they don't know how you do things and simply get in your way? My husband was at home for the past five days - three days of a long weekend and two days off. I know he is trying to help. But he just does everything differently, not my way and, arguably, not the right way. I appreciate his help but sometime it is just easier to do things yourself. There is a one of those stupid TV parenting shows "Who rules the roost?" Each parent stays at home for two weeks and takes care of children and the household. Sometimes I wish my husband would have staid at home and took care of the house and our kids just for a couple of days. I feel that maybe he would appreciate everything I do a bit more and would understand my frustration. On the other hand, I suspect he would have like me to appreciate what he does a bit more and understand his tiredness a bit more. No matter how many time he would say that he understands what I do, he does not. Simply because he has never tried it. And no matter how many times I say that I understand that he gets tired at work, I don't, for exactly the same reason. I have never tried it. How would I know if I don't?
And now I need to go and sort two weeks worth of laundry and iron three weeks worth of ironing while my husband is at a playground with kids. I also have to make sure that I don't throttle him when he returns and asks what's for lunch.

What did we do today? We lazed around until nearly 8 a.m. After that the usual - finished cleaning up after yesterday's party; cooked soup - butternut squash, carrot and ginger; went for a walk to the local shopping centre; bought socks for a big munchkin and bibs for a little one. The little munchkin is drooling a lot. Yesterday he used all 6 bibs I had in one day. I would love to think that he is teething, but if he is anything like his sister the first tooth is not anywhere near in coming.
After lunch we went to a park with big munchkin's new little friend and her parents. Girls don't really play together yet, but they parallel play very well. They keep coping each other and it keeps them occupied for a long time. They played for over an hour in a sandbox yesterday. I think they managed to take most of the sand out. All they had was a set of my measuring cups, but two little sets of hands can manage a lot of mischief if they feel like it. They had a lot of fun though.
Little munchkin has suddenly outgrown his blue and white Robeez shoes. Robeez makes such wonderful shoes. I brought a few with me from Canada, but my kids were blessed with very big feet. So, the little munchkin has already outgrown the first pair. I guess I will have to buy a new one for him at some point. Robeez shoes here cost 18 pounds. As with many other things in the UK it is a sheer robbery. It used to cost maximum 25 Canadian dollars, but you could always find them on sale for CAN$18. I have to say that I miss Old Navy, Winners, The Bay, Wall-Mart and all the other similar stores. I am yet to find an appropriate subsitute where I can shop for cheap yet good kids clothes.

On Reviving this Blog
I am writing this at the end of May 2006. My intention of writing a proper and regular record of my pregnancy ended up being exactly that - an intention. My beautiful son - ***** - was born three weeks at the end of February 2006. He has just turned three months.
Since I have written here last time an incredible amount of changes occurred in my life. Seven and a half months pregnant I have moved across the pond to the 'sunny' Britain. Soon after I became a mommy for the second time.
I have promised many times to myself and others that I will keep in touch. As with many other good intentions it also remained just that. I have a valid explanation for it. Living with a toddler and a newborn in a new country does not leave me much time for writing e-mails. Since most of the emails that I do write are impersonal updates, I might as well start posting them as blogs. Once again I apologize to all of my friends for not writing. I would like to say that I will write to you more often, but I am probably not going to. I don't have time. Truly and honestly. Please, check this blog once in a while for updates.
The second reason to restart this blog is the increasing need to find a place to complain. For some reason, I always find something to whine about. I need an outlet for whining. Blogging is a form of therapy. Accumulated whining leads to depression. I need to spread the 'joy' of my bad mood to feel better. Instead of spreading it at my husband, I might as well start spreading it on the web. It is less harmful and more impersonal. At least it will be less damaging to my family life. Hopefully. And I can always read it later and think how I could have been such an idiot. Or not.
Anyway, this blog is officially alive. I don't know if it will be hot with new postings or lukewarm with rare updates. I will do my best.
